Time: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Location: online via Zoom (we will send a link to participants 48h in advance).
Instructor: Eric D. Kolaczyk, Director, Computational & Data Systems Initiative (CDSI).
Overview: This workshop presents an overview of the data science life cycle using the programming language R in the statistical programming environment RStudio. Using a simple data set, the instructor will walk participants through the different steps of the data science life cycle (e.g., manipulation, plotting, communication, code version control), presenting relevant R packages and representative commands for each step.
This tutorial is designed to help the learner prepare for the larger set of CDSI training offerings on the various specific stages of the data science life cycle.
Prerequisites: Install R and RStudio on your computer. You can find installation instructions here. Please contact us (cdsi.science at mcgill.ca) if you are having trouble with installation.
