- A new NSERC CREATE (Collaborative Research and Training Experience) Program in Medical Image Analysis (CREATE-MIA) has launched at McGill. In addition to the opportunity of studying with one of seven world-class academicians from McGill, ÉTS, or the Université de Sherbrooke, CREATE-MIA adds professional skills training and provides real-world experience in finding solutions to problems challenging the medical imaging industry today through industrial internships. Trainees (undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral fellows) completing the program will be well-prepared to embark on their careers, in industry or academia. Interested potential ECE students should look at the work being done by Professor Tal Arbel (http://www.cim.mcgill.ca/~arbel/) in the Intelligent Systems Group and then go to http://www.cim.mcgill.ca/create-mia to find out more about what is involved in CREATE-MIA, what funding is possible, and how to apply.
- Immediate openings for M.Eng. and Ph.D. students exist in the Plant-Group. Researchers interested in the following topics are encouraged to apply: - Fiber optic transmission systems, Optical Interconnects, Nanophotonics, Silicon photonics, Optoelectronics, Fiber Optics, Photonic Integration. Additional information about the Plant-Group research activities can be found at: http://www.photonics.ece.mcgill.ca/Plant/Plant.html Please send CV’s to Professor David Plant (david [dot] plant [at] mcgill [dot] ca)
- Research positions at the Research associate and Post-doctoral fellow levels in Wireless Telecommunication are available for suitable candidates. Some of these positions could be also filled with well qualified Ph.D. students. While all applicants in this field will be considered, the project topic is in the area of Cooperative Spectrum Sensing for Cognitive Wireless Communication, and the requirements for the available positions include documented experience in any three of the following subjects: detection and estimation, spectrum sensing, data fusion in wireless sensor networks, modern channel coding techniques, statistical inference using graphical models, cooperative communication, and non-coherent digital communication. If you are interested please apply by sending an email to harry [dot] leib [at] mcgill [dot] ca describing you background, and attaching a CV as well as three publications that demonstrate the applicant experience relevant to the project. After initial screening, other documents may be required. Please visit here for more info.
- A PhD position is currently available in Graphitic Nanocomposites for Li-Ion Batteries, to start as soon as January 2011. Must be able to travel to USA for on-site work with industrial partner. If you are interested, please contact Prof. Thomas Szkopek at this thomas [dot] szkopek [at] mcgill [dot] ca (Email) .
- PhD student positions are currently available in BioMEMS, Biosensors and Biomedical Microdevices. If you are interested in this field of study, please contact Prof. Vamsy Chodavarapu.
- PhD and post-doc position is currently available in III-nitride nanoelectronic and nanophotonic devices. please visit here for more info.
