Project Proposals Due: Jan 6, 2014

The ISS Team would like to invite professors from any department or faculty at the universities of McGill, INRS, Ecole Polytechnique and Sherbrooke to submit a proposal for an undergraduate student research project for our professional and technical training program this May.

The ISS Program will pay a $4,500 share of a $5,625 stipend for a 16 week research project thanks to the National Science and Research Council of Canada’s CREATE program.

Professors who post projects are eligible to be matched with the ISS Program students applicants.  Financial awards student will be provided to the best students, not projects. Better project descriptions are expected to attract better students.

Supervisor Applications:

Supervisors project applications for ISS Undergraduate Research Projects are due by January 6, 2014

Projects will be evaluated based on program fit and should focus on the design, fabrication or testing of sensor devices, the development of materials that are required for sensors, the processing of signals obtained from sensors, sensor integration and packaging.

Professors who post a project for the ISS Program will be matched with the students applicants based on student ranking, student preferences and professor eligibility criteria.
There are 5-7 awards available for up to 8 projects.  Only projects which have passed the preliminary screening for program fit will be considered for awards and/or inclusion in the training program.

Supervisors are not required to find their own eligible students; projects can be posted for undergraduate students at all four universities to apply.  Supervisors are expected to respond to student inquiries during the student application period (January–February 15, 2014).

Funding competition results and project assignments will be announced starting March 15, 2013.

The deadline for supervisor project proposals is

JANUARY 6, 2014.

Student applications for the 2014 ISS Undergraduate Program will be due on February 15, 2014
