Sébastien Jodoin and Helge Dedek to serve as Associate Dean (Academic)

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Sébastien Jodoin will serve as Associate Dean (Academic) until 1 June 2025. Professor Helge Dedek will then succeed him, beginning his previously announced term as Associate Dean (Academic).
These appointments follow the recent nomination of Professor Tina Piper, Associate Dean (Academic), as interim dean for the Faculty of Law.
Holder of the Canada Research Chair in Human Rights, Health and the Environment, Professor Sébastien Jodoin has been a member of the Faculty’s senior leadership as Associate Dean (Research) since 2024. He will continue to serve in this role in addition to his new responsibilities for the rest of the winter semester.
A full professor, Helge Dedek holds the Wainwright Chair in Civil Law. His outstanding commitment to pedagogy and his students’ success earned him the John W. Durnford Award for Teaching Excellence in 2021.
“I’m very grateful to Professor Jodoin for stepping up at this crucial point in the semester, and to Professor Dedek for agreeing to begin his appointment months earlier than initially planned,” said Dean Tina Piper. “They have demonstrated remarkable dedication to the Faculty’s mission, and I look forward to our collaboration.”
