ACTOR’s Training and Mentoring Committee coordinated the training opportunities for new students and mentors' students on research methods, collaboration ethics, and research dissemination methods. TMC coordinated student workshops, tracked student research output, and connected students with partners and other institutions for potential internships or job/career opportunities. The committee evaluated student applications to present at yearly workshops (5 students/year) and applications for exchange visits to other partner institutions. TMC provided mentoring for emerging scholars, students, and post-docs moving toward tenure-track academic positions.

ACTOR Mentoring Program

In the Fall 2021, the ACTOR project implemented a yearly mentoring program including one-on-one meetings between mentor and mentee pairs as well as group sessions at the end of each semester.

The main goal of the program was to provide emerging scholars, post-docs moving toward tenure-track academic positions, and students with guidance and resources so they could develop as a highly skilled, knowledgeable, and networked cohort of scholars and practitioners capable of advancing the next wave of orchestration research, teaching, creative output, and private-sector activity.

Each pair involved had one 30-minute online session per month scheduled by the mentor/mentee according to the academic calendar, that is from October-December and from February-May.
