Jonathon CampbellDr. Jonathon Campbell received his PhD from the University of British Columbia in 2018 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University.

His research centers on generating evidence to inform the design and implementation of novel tuberculosis prevention and care strategies that maximize public health impact, while minimizing health system and patient costs. He has three major research themes: (i) research focused on targeting and scaling-up tuberculosis prevention; (ii) research focused on tuberculosis prevention globally and its implications for tuberculosis epidemiology and prevention in low-incidence settings like Canada; (iii) research focused on informing the design of care and support programs for people affected by tuberculosis and its long-term consequences.

Current research projects:

  • The Functional Outcomes, Lung health, and Livelihood Outcomes among people with Tuberculosis (FOLLOW-TB) Study is a multi-centre, prospective study in Canada seeking to improve our understanding of the short and long-term impacts of tuberculosis disease and tuberculosis infection. This longitudinal study will evaluate a multitude of health, socioeconomic, and functional outcomes and how they change over a two-year follow-up period among people initiating treatment for tuberculosis infection or disease as well as a control population. This study will also serve as a platform for evaluation and development of novel diagnostics and prognostic indicators through an integrated biobank. The study benefits from guidance of patient partners and a scientific advisory committee.
