She is a Principal Investigator at the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research. Her research program aims to promote migrant health by identifying, quantifying, and addressing infectious disease disparities to improve prevention, diagnosis, and access to care. Her work has focused on tuberculosis, viral hepatitis and vaccine-preventable diseases among migrant populations. She has a long-standing interest in TB and has been involved in the clinical care of patients with TB for more than 20 years. She established the TB clinic at the Jewish General Hospital in 2001. She has conducted studies on the diagnosis and treatment of TB, the TB burden among immigrants and optimal screening strategies for TB infection and disease among the migrant population.

Current Research Projects:

  • Getting to hepatitis B elimination in Canada: Where are the gaps and how best to fill them?” (2025-2028) CIHR-funded, pan-Canadian study using population-based cohorts of hepatitis B created through linking administrative databases to map the HBV care cascade, measure the burden of HBV and model the most cost-effective HBV screening and vaccination strategies among immigrants.
  • Assessing and measuring the impact of language barriers on hospital outcomes, safety, and costs in a tertiary care Hospital in Montreal, Canada” (2025-2027). JGH Department of Medicine-funded project. Retrospective cohort study of all hospital admissions between 2018-2024 to determine the impact of language barriers on hospital outcomes, including length of stay, readmissions and in-hospital mortality.
  • Promoting Equitable Access to Hepatitis B Screening and Treatment in Canada: An Evidence Synthesis Study Using an Integrated Knowledge Translation Approach” (2024-2025). CIHR-funded, Knowledge synthesis project on the barriers and facilitators to the uptake of HBV screening, linkage to care and treatment.
