Dr. Jonathan DeLong is a hepatobiliary and pancreas (HPB) surgeon and a leader in surgical innovation at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. After completing his fellowship in HPB and robotic surgery at Stanford, Dr. DeLong has built his career around developing cross-disciplinary collaboration—partnering with engineers, computer scientists, and industry leaders to advance the future of surgery.

As founding director of the Institute for Surgical Innovation, Dr. DeLong leads efforts to integrate artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and novel technologies into surgical practice. His research focuses on AI-driven surgical navigation, digital twins in surgery, and the development of next-generation robotic and imaging platforms. He has delivered keynote presentations internationally on the convergence of surgery and engineering, and is committed to building programs that train the next generation of surgical innovators.
