Dr. Yifan Wang

Dr. Wang completed her MDCM and General Surgery residency at McGill University. She pursued advanced fellowship training in HPB Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She subsequently completed additional fellowship training focusing on liver transplantation, including robotic living donor hepatectomy, and robotic HPB surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital.

During residency, Dr. Wang completed a PhD under the supervision of Dr. George Zogopoulos focused on precision health approaches to pancreatic cancer, supported by the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship and the Phase 1 FRQS clinician-scientist award. Her doctoral work included the COMPASS clinical trial, a prospective study integrating genomic and transcriptomic profiling into the care of patients with pancreatic cancer. Her research contributed to the characterization of the molecular landscape of pancreatic cancer, the clinical implementation of mainstream germline testing, and the identification of therapeutic vulnerabilities in homologous recombination-deficient pancreatic cancer.

At the MUHC, Dr. Wang’s clinical innovation focus will be the development of the robotic HPB surgery program. At the RI-MUHC, she will establish a translational research program in pancreaticobiliary cancers, building on her expertise in cancer genetics and precision oncology. Dr. Wang will also serve as Associate Director of the Quebec Pancreas Cancer Study (QPCS), co-site lead for the Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection Consortium (PRECEDE), and a co-investigator within a Phase 2 Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network cohort focused on pancreaticobiliary cancers.
