Dr. Olivia Hershorn joined the General Surgery team as a Colon and Rectal Surgeon at St. Mary’s Hospital Centre in August 2025. She has also been appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at McGill University.
She completed her medical degree at McGill University before pursuing residency training in General Surgery at the University of Manitoba, where she also earned a Master of Science in Surgery. She subsequently completed a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at St. Paul’s Hospital (UBC) in Vancouver, BC.
Dr. Hershorn’s research has focused on mixed-methods approaches, patient-centred outcomes, and quality improvement, with particular attention to advanced endoscopy and transanal techniques in rectal cancer care.
Her clinical practice includes advanced laparoscopic and transanal procedures, with expertise in the management of colon and rectal cancer, benign colorectal disease, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and anorectal conditions.
