Dear students,
Welcome to a new academic year at McGill.
Whether you're joining us for the first time or returning to campus, I hope the year ahead brings opportunities to learn, connect, and grow.
As Associate Provost (Student Life and Learning) and Dean of Students, I have the privilege of supporting students across the University. One thing I know is that success at McGill is about more than academic achievement. Students are whole people, and a meaningful university experience includes building community, exploring new ideas, caring for your wellbeing, and learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Our McGill community is strengthened by the diversity of experiences and perspectives that each of you brings. Creating a campus where everyone feels welcome, respected, and able to thrive is a responsibility we all share.
As the year begins, I encourage you to familiarize yourself with McGill's Charter of Students' Rights, Code of Student Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures, Policy on Harassment and Discrimination, and Policy Against Sexual Violence. Together, these frameworks help ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all. If you have not already done so, please complete the It Takes All of Us online learning module on sexual violence.
I also encourage you to make the most of the opportunities available to you. Get involved, meet new people, try something new, and don't hesitate to seek support when you need it. Some of the most valuable learning and growth happens through these experiences.
I wish you a rewarding, healthy, and successful year ahead.
Tony Mittermaier
