These funding opportunities are from within McGill University.       

Several teaching assistantships and research assistantships are available at the School of Social Work. Some students, depending upon their qualifications and experience, may be hired as sessional lecturers. The availability of these positions can vary from year to year. Students can consult CAPS, their supervisors, or the jill.hanley [at] (Joint PhD Program Director) for more information. 

McGill University Internships vary in their dates and field and include internship opportunities with CBC Radio, the United Nations, and international consulates.


External funding are sources outside of McGill University. All of these funding opportunities require action on behalf of the student.  Please review criteria to ensure eligibility.

  • Fellowships and Awards

To be considered for financial support from the School, PhD students are required to apply for external fellowships, if eligible. The deadlines for most external fellowships are in the Fall.  For more information, visit:
