Christopher Buddle
Professor Buddle has worked at McGill since 2002. His home unit is the Department of Natural Resource Sciences at Macdonald Campus within the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. He is an award-winning teacher (at McGill and nationally) recognized for innovations using technology in classrooms. Professor Buddle's research is focused on the biodiversity and community ecology of insects and spiders, notably in the Arctic. He has been involved in administration at McGill for many years, as Associate Dean (Student Affairs) in his Faculty, Dean of Students, and most recently as Associate Provost (Teaching and Academic Planning) where he provided strategic leadership at McGill in the areas of enhancing teaching innovation and excellence, and curriculum development and review, including online programming.
Professor Buddle was appointed Deputy Provost (Academic) on May 1, 2026, a role that includes advising on complex academic files, contributing to academic transformation efforts, and participating in the development of McGill’s Strategic Academic Plan.
