Dear members of the McGill community,
It’s been great to see familiar faces returning to campus, as well as all the new ones joining us for the first time. I hope your new academic year is off to a great start!
Key policies of which we must all be aware
McGill has responsibilities towards you, as to you towards your colleagues and peers. Some fall within the academic realm while others are tools for upholding a respectful, inclusive and supportive campus environment.
Of interest to all is McGill’s Mission and Principles, which addresses academic freedom, integrity, responsibility, equity, and inclusiveness.
In support of this mission are McGill’s key policies on academic freedom, harassment and discrimination, and the prevention of sexual violence. We invite all members of our community to take the time to review these policies thoroughly to understand the associated rights and obligations.
We have also included at the end of this message a comprehensive list of resources available to students and staff.
Preparing for the next Provost
As I mark my final academic year as Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic), I am deeply grateful for the privilege of serving with so many committed and brilliant colleagues and students. The University has weathered challenges with resilience and has flourished in ways that continually renew my optimism.
Every September, the arrival of a new cohort—each bringing fresh perspectives, curiosity, and ambition—infuses our community with hope for the future. I am confident that the university will continue to welcome this vitality and channel it to build an even more dynamic, connected, and forward-looking institution.
Sincerely,
Christopher Manfredi
Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic)
