Nicolas Gendron-Carrier is an Assistant Professor of Economics at McGill University. His research interests are in labour and urban economics. In the field of labour economics, he focuses on the careers of young entrepreneurs, particularly the value of prior work experience in entrepreneurship and how the decision to become an entrepreneur interacts with broader career decisions of individuals. In urban economics, he focuses on the opportunities afforded by the density in cities. He has studied how subways affect urban air pollution and quality of life and how globalization changed the spatial organization of economic activity in the U.S. since 1950. In upcoming projects, he continues studying cities as a site for labour market interactions, focusing on the microgeography of economic spillovers between firms and workers.
