PGY5	Jad Abi‑Rafeh MD Dr. Jad Abi‑Rafeh is a Resident in Plastic Surgery at McGill University with clinical interests in breast reconstruction, body contouring, and aesthetic surgery. He has published more than 55 peer‑reviewed manuscripts, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence applications in plastic surgery. His work has been presented at major national and international societies and recognized with awards from the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and CIHR. Dr. Abi‑Rafeh is the first resident appointed to the Editorial Board of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal as a Next Generation Editor and actively contributes to multiple professional committees. He is deeply engaged in teaching medical students and residents through clinical rotations, lectures, and anatomy laboratories. Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling, scuba diving, fitness, and exploring Montreal with his French bulldog.
Sulaiman Almedaifer MD
Abdulaziz AlAzzam MD Dr. Abdulaziz (Aziz) Alazzam completed his medical degree at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and is currently a resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at McGill University. His clinical interests include hand surgery, microsurgery, and complex nerve repair. Dr. Alazzam is committed to combining academic productivity with leadership as he prepares for advanced fellowship training in hand and microsurgery. He brings a focused, patient‑centered approach to surgical care and is dedicated to contributing to the evolving field of reconstructive surgery.
Rawan Elabd MD Dr. Rawan ElAbd is a resident with strong academic, clinical, and quality‑improvement interests. She has led several high‑impact initiatives at the McGill University Health Centre, including the development of ERAS pathways. With more than 40 peer‑reviewed publications, Dr. ElAbd has been recognized with the Dr. Benjamin Shore Research Award and the H. Bruce Williams Clinical Research Award. Maithaa AlShamsi MD

Maithaa is a PGY-4 Plastic Surgery resident and graduate of United Arab Emirates University. She has a strong interest in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, with particular interests in microsurgery, hand surgery, and facial plastic surgery. She is passionate about developing advanced surgical skills and pursuing excellence in patient care and academic practice.

Charles Arcand MD

A graduate from Université Laval’s medical school, Charles Arcand trained with a strong focus on medical education and detail-oriented patient care. He then pursued a masters degree in clinical science where he investigated the scarring process of a novel skin substitute applied to burn care.

Outside of medicine, he is equally committed to refining his craft in the kitchen. Drawn to the precision and restraint that define traditional Italian cooking, he approaches each dish with the same focus and attention to detail to allow simple ingredients to shine.

He also values time spent outdoors, particularly through endurance sports such as cycling and backcountry skiing. These activities provide both the balance and perspective that are essential to his work in medicine.

Caroline Esmonde-White MD

Caroline is originally from Ottawa, Ontario. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Cognitive Science, with a minor in Biology, from McGill University. She then completed a Master of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Université de Montréal.

Prior to medical school, Caroline worked as a Medical Writer before pursuing her MD at Western University. She subsequently matched to the Plastic Surgery residency program at McGill University, where she is currently completing her surgical training.

Her academic interests include medical education, as well as hand and reconstructive surgery.

Fardad Jabbary Aslany MD

Dr. Fardad Jabbary earned his medical degree from McGill University and is currently completing his residency in Plastic Surgery at McGill. Before entering medicine, he trained as a Software Engineer and worked extensively in artificial intelligence—expertise that now shapes his academic and clinical interests. His research focuses on surgical innovation and education, with an emphasis on integrating AI and emerging technologies into surgical planning, simulation, and long‑term outcome assessment. Dr. Jabbary is committed to advancing patient care through meaningful, thoughtfully applied technological progress. Outside of his medical work, he is an avid traveler and sports enthusiast who also enjoys content creation, the arts, and exploring the mysteries of both deep space and the deep ocean.

Hillary Nepon MD

Dr. Hillary Nepon was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her love of adventure took her to Ireland where she obtained her medical degree from University College Cork. Here she saw her first rhomboid flap and the power of plastic surgery in restoring form and function. With her heart set on becoming a plastic surgeon, Hillary began her PhD in Experimental Surgery at McGill on the inflammatory and fibrotic reaction to breast implants, and subsequently joined the McGill Plastic & Reconstructive surgery residency program. Prior to medicine, Hillary was a dancer and toured internationally for fourteen years. She also enjoys cooking, travelling, exercise and spending time with her two cats Batman and Milo.

PGY3	Faisal Al Jabr MD Dr. Faisal Al Jabr joins the McGill Plastic Surgery Residency Program from Saudi Arabia, where he completed his medical degree at King Faisal University in Al Ahsa. Before coming to McGill, he completed one year of plastic surgery training in Saudi Arabia. Drawn to surgery by its complexity, continuous learning opportunities, and ability to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives, Dr. Al Jabr is particularly interested in craniofacial and hand surgery. He has contributed to several published systematic reviews and meta-analyses in plastic surgery, burns, and scar management research. Outside of medicine, he enjoys going to the gym, jump rope training, and spending time with friends. His long-term goal is to pursue advanced fellowship training and ultimately return to Al Ahsa to serve his community with the skills and knowledge gained through his training at McGill.

She completed her Doctor of Medicine at University of Toronto and served 4 years as 2T4 Class President. She studied biochemistry with a focus in metabolism at University of Ottawa for both her Honours Bachelor and Master of Science degrees.

Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia. I completed my undergraduate studies at Simon Fraser University, followed by my Medical Degree and Master’s at the University of British Columbia. I then moved to Montreal, to complete my Plastic Surgery residency at McGill University.

My interests in plastic surgery include its breadth of practice and the opportunity to work closely with other specialties. I am also interested in patient-reported and surgical outcomes.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy staying active, weightlifting, watching basketball—especially the San Antonio Spurs—and following the NFL everyday Sunday. I also enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and family both in Montreal and Vancouver.

Mohammed Alhumaidan MD

Dr. Mohammed Alhumaidan, originally from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, earned his medical degree from King Saud University for Health Sciences. He was drawn to plastic surgery for its complexity, breadth, and unique blend of precision and creativity. He looks forward to developing his skills throughout residency while contributing to improvements in patient care. His personal interests include traveling, playing paddle tennis, and spending time with family and friends.

Ahmed Al‑Khlifah MD

Dr. Ahmed Al‑Khlifah is a Saudi plastic surgery resident training at McGill University. He brings three years of general surgery experience and two years of prior plastic surgery training, providing him with a strong clinical foundation and a deep commitment to high‑quality surgical care. His interests include reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, as well as medical education and healthcare systems development in Saudi Arabia. Outside the hospital, Ahmed is a dedicated father who values family life and strives to balance professional growth with personal responsibilities.

Gabriel Kuper MD

Dr. Gabriel Kuper is a resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at McGill University. Originally, from Toronto, he began his academic journey as a mature student after leaving high school early due to family circumstances. He completed his undergraduate studies at McMaster University and later worked in the medical device industry before earning his medical degree from the University of British Columbia. His academic interests include surgical innovation, health‑system design, and patient‑reported outcomes in reconstructive surgery. Outside of medicine, he enjoys skiing, long‑distance running, and hand‑making pasta—especially agnolotti.

PGY1	Sood Alsairefi MD Sood Alsairefi is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Resident at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He earned his medical degree with Honors from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Before beginning residency at McGill, he worked in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division at Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Hospital in Kuwait, a major tertiary referral center and center of excellence. In addition to his clinical work, Alsairefi is actively engaged in clinical research, surgical education, intern mentorship, and quality-improvement initiatives. His professional interests focus on reconstructive and trauma surgery, burn care, innovation, and advancing evidence-based practice in plastic surgery.
Alicia Belaiche MD Alicia Belaiche is a first-year resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at McGill University. A Montreal native, she completed her MDCM at McGill before undertaking a year of training in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Ottawa. Her interests within plastic surgery are wide-ranging, and she looks forward to exploring the full breadth of the specialty throughout her training. She is also passionate about research, surgical education, leadership, and delivering compassionate, patient-centred care. She looks forward to learning from and contributing to the McGill Plastic Surgery community.

Sood Alsairefi MD

Sood Alsairefi is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Resident at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He earned his medical degree with Honors from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).
