ID Cards

It is essential for all McGill registered residents and fellows to obtain both a McGill ID card as well as a hospital ID card.

McGill student ID card:

Once you have registered via Minerva, you can obtain the McGill student ID card by following the steps outlined on the McGill Student Records website, under "How to get a new student ID card".

You will need to bring the following when picking up your card:

  • Your McGill ID number (provided on your acceptance letter)
  • One piece of government-issued photo ID

Important: ID cards will not be issued if any of the above documents are missing.

Your student ID card gives you access to essential services on campus including library, labs, athletic facilities, residences, cafeterias and more.

Hospital ID card:

Hospital ID cards are issued by your base hospital (MUHC, Jewish General Hospital, St. Mary's, CSSS de Gatineau, CSSS Jardins-Roussillon or Hôpital de Val-d'Or).

It is mandatory for all residents and fellows to wear their hospital identity card for identification while training in the hospital.
