Winifred Margaret Ross Award

Dr. Winifred Margaret Ross was a McGill graduate (MD,1952) and successful radiologist (Johns Hopkins and Kingston General Hospitals) who strongly supported quality medical education.  Thanks to a generous endowment from Dr. Ross in 2010, the Faculty of Medicine established the Winifred Ross award for Palliative Care.  This year, $1,500.00 will be awarded to one third-year and one fourth-year medical student who demonstrate a strong interest in and clear understanding of palliative care.

Award Application Eligibility and Procedure:

To apply for this award, you must be either a third or fourth year Medical student at McGill University. Applicants should submit an essay (2 page maximum) describing their interest in and understanding of palliative care, including the role it plays both in our health care system and, more broadly, in our society. Please include your name, year in your program (3 or 4) and email address in the upper right corner of the essay and email it to the palliativecare.med [at] mcgill.ca (Administrative and Student Affairs Coordinator) for Palliative Care McGill.  The deadline for the 2023 - 2024 academic year is March 30, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. PDF icon winifred_margaret_ross_scholarship_award_2024.pdf
