Established in 2017, the ISoN Faculty Mentorship Program encourages peer mentorship within the Ingram School by facilitating the creation of mentor-mentee dyads between faculty members. Unlike most academic mentorship programs, the ISoN offers structured mentorship to both new and experienced faculty. In its first incarnation, the program paired up participating faculty members into dyads based on mentees’ needs and mentors’ areas of expertise; participants were then provided with a template for a mentorship agreement that they could use when establishing their dyad, and were checked on regularly by the program facilitators. In the October of 2019, the program further evolved to better meet the specific needs of newly-hired CAS and tenure-track faculty, offering each group a multi-year, structured mentorship plan that includes preceptorship and the Faculty of Medicine’s Telemachus Project. AS of 2020, over 30 mentorship dyads are participating or have participated in this program, contributing to the vibrant culture of mentorship that the ISoN enjoys today.
