Here is an expert from McGill University who can provide comment on this issue:

Brian Ward, Full Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases

"Measles is a very serious disease that we in Canada have largely forgotten about because, until recently, almost all Canadians and most people in the world had been successfully protected by the vaccine. Several factors, including conflicts, COVID-19’s disruption of vaccination programs, and growing vaccine resistance in many communities have resulted in a worldwide resurgence in measles cases. This resurgence is now reaching Canada."

Brian Ward is a Full Professor in the Department of Medicine and a Senior Scientist at the Research Institute of McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC). His research focuses on infectious diseases, tropical medicine and vaccines.
