The specimen consists of the aortic root and valve, the latter with three equal size leaflets without fibrosis. All leaflets show multiple vegetations, consistent with acute infectious endocarditis.

Comment
This specimen is mistakenly labeled “bicuspid valve”. The raphé referred to in the descriptive card is not evident; (the arrow on Rodin’s image (A) indicates a small atherosclerotic plaque on the aorta). It is possible that the descriptive card belongs with specimen 19.
