On October 5, 2026, the people of Quebec will go to the polls to elect the members of the National Assembly who will represent them and form the next government. The issues at stake in this election are significant: the state of the healthcare system and public services, the cost of living and access to homeownership, education, immigration, major infrastructure projects, the environment, and Quebec’s political future.

Added to these debates is a digital landscape that has undergone profound changes since the last election. Declining access to news on social media, the rise of content generated by artificial intelligence, polarization, and declining trust in institutions and the media: the informational context in which the campaign will unfold is complex.

The Center for Media, Technology, and Democracy and the Media Ecosystem Observatory invite you to an evening event designed to help you better understand the major issues of the election campaign as well as the dynamics of the information and digital landscape.

This event is organized in partnership with the Max Bell School of Public Policy, the « Chaire de recherche sur la démocratie, le vivre-ensemble et les valeurs communes au Québec », the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada, and the Centre for the Study of Democratic Citizenship.
