Title: Teaching the Foundations of Biostatistics.

Abstract: It is critical that students develop a theoretical foundation in biostatistics. Unfortunately, traditional approaches to what has historically been called "Mathematical Statistics" have hewed to a curriculum first developed in the middle of the 20th century. Are our programs and graduates well served by such courses? In this talk, alternative pedagogies and content are discussed to help prepare the next generation of students to thrive in a world in need of practitioners with a theoretical grounding and deepened data acumen.
