 OVERVIEW OF CONTENT

Fall/Winter

Freshmen (U0) from out of province take a year of university level chemistry, physics and mathematics and a Humanities and Social Science class.

Fall/Winter 

Foundations of materials engineering in introductory level courses on structure, properties of materials and processing of materials (extractive metallurgy and mineral processing) along with required coursework in civil and mechanical engineering, chemistry, and engineering communications.

Summer

Students are encouraged to get a head start and take a required math course (MATH 263).

Fall

A rich mixture of intermediate courses including phase transformation, heat and fluid flow, electrical machinery, computer programming, and civil engineering.

Winter

 Industrial Work Term 1

Summer

Intermediate coursework on applications of polymers, characterization techniques, and extractive metallurgy.

U3

Fall/Winter

Upper level coursework on mineral processing, mechanical properties, powder metallurgy, and process engineering.  Students get the first opportunity to choose from a multitude of related Technical Complementary courses.
