Civil Law Workshop: Le mandat apparent, with Adrian Popovici
The Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law inaugurates the new university year with a Civil Law Workshop with Professor Adrian Popovici on the apparent mandate.
Abstract
(In French only) Le mandat apparent est le joyau des phénomènes juridiques que l’on peut regrouper sous le titre de la théorie de l’apparence en droit civil. Un rappel des règles qui le gouvernent et de sa raison d’être peut ouvrir la voie vers d’autres concepts collatéraux encore peu explorés : les contrats fictifs, imposés, présumés, les contrats-sanctions, etc… Tout ça pour stimuler la résurrection du quasi-contrat, nouvelle vague; quasi-contrat réalité ou hérésie?
About the speaker
Adrian Popovici is a professor emeritus (Faculty of Law, Université de Montréal) and an affiliate member (McGill). He is a McGill Faculty of Law graduate (1962) and the author of La couleur du mandat (1995). His interests lie in civil and comparative law.
About the Civil Law Workshops
In order to promote fundamental research in private law, the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law initiated the “Civil Law Workshop” series, bringing together jurists from Québec and beyond to work on related research topics. With their cross-disciplinary focus, the “Civil Law Workshops” contribute to enriching and stimulating fundamental research in private law.
The 2012-2014 series of civil law workshops presented by the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law explore « Les apparences en droit civil ».
The workshops are presented with financial assistance from Justice Canada’s Support Fund for Access to Justice in Both Official Languages.
Registration is not required. Each workshop has been accredited for 1.5 hours of continuing legal education by the Barreau du Québec.
