Film Screening: Return to Falls

About the Event

Join us for a special screening of Return to the Falls, sharing the powerful story of Elder Betty Ross, a Residential School Survivor from Pimicikamak Cree Nation. Following the film, Elder Betty will be joined by the team lead educator, Sandy Robinson, and film director Eppo Eerkes for a conversation on truth, resilience, healing, and the importance of sharing these stories.

About Elder Betty

Elder Betty Ross is a respected Cree Elder, educator, storyteller, and Residential School Survivor from Pimicikamak Cree Nation (Cross Lake First Nation). She survived both St. Joseph’s Residential School in Cross Lake and Assiniboia Residential School in Winnipeg. Her experiences have been shared through Sugar Falls, Did You See Us?, and the documentary Return to the Falls. Through storytelling and education, Elder Betty shares the truths of the Residential School system while carrying forward messages of resilience, healing, culture, and strength. After many years supporting Indigenous patients and families within Manitoba’s health-care system, Elder Betty now serves as an Elder in Residence with the Seven Oaks School Division, connecting with hundreds of students each month. A mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she continues to travel and work with communities across Canada, sharing her knowledge, lived experience, and traditional teachings with future generations.
