The Mentorship Pairing Program offers a variety of events throughout the year to help mentors and mentees build connections, develop professional skills, and learn from members of the McGill community and beyond. These events complement the one-to-one mentoring relationship by creating opportunities for networking, career exploration, and knowledge sharing.
Mentor and Mentee Orientations
Orientation sessions introduce participants to the program, provide guidance on effective mentoring relationships, and help mentors and mentees make the most of their year in the program. This year's mentor orientation will take place virtually on September 24th while the mentee orientation will take place virtually on October 8th. Registration details will be communicated directly to the 2026-27 cohort.
Welcome Reception
A community-building event held at the beginning of the academic year that allows mentors and mentees to meet, connect with other participants, and begin building their professional networks. This year’s welcome reception will take place on October 1, 2026 at the Faculty Club. Participation is limited to Mentors and Mentees in the 2026-27 cohort and registration for the event is required.
Lunchtime Learning Series
The Mentorship Pairing Program Lunchtime Learning Series brings mentors and mentees together for informal conversations on career development, networking, and professional growth. These sessions complement the mentoring relationship by creating opportunities to learn from peers, alumni, faculty members, and campus partners.
The first event in this year's Lunchtime Learning Series will take place November 5th, from 12-1pm and explore the resources available through Beyond the Professoriate.
Previous Topics
Previous Lunchtime Learning Series events have explored networking, academic job searching, transferable skills, teaching experience, and faculty career pathways. Topics are refreshed annually in response to participant interests and feedback.
TRaCE Talks
Participants are also encouraged to attend TRaCE Talks, a series of career conversations featuring McGill PhD alumni working across a range of sectors. These events provide insight into diverse career pathways and opportunities beyond and within academia. Details about upcoming TRaCE Talks and recordings of past talks can be found on the TRaCE Talks page.
