Dr. Christopher DuCoin is Professor of Surgery at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he serves as Vice Chair of Surgery, Division Chief of GI & General Surgery, Director of the Digestive Disease Institute at Tampa General Hospital, and Director of the Robotics Program. A nationally recognized surgical leader, he is a Board Member of SAGES and Chair of its Research Committee, Past President of both the American College of Surgeons Young Fellows Association and the Florida Chapter of ASMBS. He is also an active member of the Southern Surgical Association, the Halsted Society, and the Society of Clinical Surgeons. He is the current Editor of Current Literature for the American College of Surgeons. Dr. DuCoin has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, many in collaboration with students and trainees, and leads a large outcomes research team. His dedication to surgical education is reflected in his past service as Clerkship Director, Associate Program Director, and Fellowship Director, and has been recognized as USF’s Distinguished Educator, and is the only surgeon to have ever earned this honor. He is a member of AOA, the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and the Robert A. Good Honor Society. Clinically, Dr. DuCoin specializes in benign and malignant esophageal surgery. Outside of medicine, he is devoted to his family, his wife Mattie, his high school sweetheart, and their three children, Sophia, Ella, and Cal. He enjoys sailing and running.
