Please be advised that McGill University has mandated Atwill-Morin Maçonnerie to carry out the following project: 22-033 Lyman Duff New Wing (B169) – Priority building envelope repairs

Description: Repair/replacement of damaged bricks & wall at the back of the building, adjacent to tunnel between MNI and Duff, up to the delivery dock of the Lyman Duff Building.

Construction start date: September 3rd, 2024

Planned construction end date: November 30th, 2024

Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Some work may be executed outside of these hours (i.e. over the weekend), especially work related to the dock area, so as to limit impact on building activities.

Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager: Johanne Guertin, GPH – johanne.guertin [at] gph-inc.com / Pierre Beauchamp, GPH – pierre.beauchamp [at] gph-inc.com

Contacts for building users: Carmen Lampron - carmen.lampron [at] mcgill.ca / Shawn Casey - shawn.casey [at] mcgill.ca

Scope of work:

The project includes exterior work only and is in a limited-access area at the back of the Lyman Duff Building. It includes:

  • Removal and replacement of existing bricks and cement coating.
  • Some repairs on the loading dock: new ceiling, painting of metal and floor, new lighting fixtures.
  • Repair of some broken window glass on this section of the façade.

Impact & mitigation:

Access:

  • The loading dock will not be accessible during the work as the scaffolding will reduce the available width in the alley.
  • A free access corridor will be provided to allow protected space for pedestrian circulation alongside the buildings on the other side of the alley and to provide safe access to the emergency doors.

Noise:

  • Noisier work (e.g., installation/removal of the scaffolding, demolition) will be coordinated and scheduled so as to minimize disruptions to building occupants.
