Dr. Faiz Ahmad Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine

Dr. Khan is a respirologist focused on improving respiratory disease diagnosis and management, including AI-based tuberculosis detection. He has served Nunavik since 2013 as its only respirologist and supports clinicians remotely. His work emphasizes community collaboration, Inuit research participation, and mentorship. He initiated a WHO meeting on tuberculosis in Indigenous populations and advocates for resources addressing the tuberculosis crisis.

Mikisiw Awashish, Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering

Mikisiw Awashish has played hockey with the McGill Redbirds for four years and has demonstrated integrity, initiative, and commitment to strengthening his community and fostering understanding between Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups. He organized a September 30, 2025 event in Mashteuiatsh bringing together the Redbirds and UQTR Patriotes for remembrance, education, and cultural exchange. The day included a ceremony, commemorative walk, youth hockey practices, and a shared traditional meal. He coordinated university teams, community leaders, and cultural elements such as custom-designed pucks by an Innu artist. His work connected communities and inspired both youth and teammates.

Loïc Billau, Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance, minor Computer Science

Loïc Billau is a fourth-year Bachelor of Commerce student. As President of MASS, he led a 14-member executive team and 35+ contributors. Achievements include:

  • 2026 SSMU Best Executive Team Award
  • $70,000+ raised
  • 2026 Mariame Kaba Leadership Award

Initiatives included “Being Black in Consulting,” “Voices and Visions,” and “Finding Belonging at McGill.” He also directed the MASS Gala, contributed to the Black Equity Fund, attended the Yale Africa Innovation Symposium, and led the Africa Speaks Conference.

Trans Law McGill

Trans Law McGill is a student-led collective founded in 2025 at McGill Faculty of Law. It advances trans rights through legal clinics, education, advocacy, and community-building initiatives. Its work focuses on accessibility, solidarity, and reducing barriers to legal recognition.
