From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Target Audience: All staff and students required to handle and/or store controlled products such as hazardous materials must follow this course.

McGill students, staff and faculty must register online using the McGill Human Resources Staff Development course registration system. For beginners, (First time training), and returning members, please register for a Live Presentation. No online presentation is currently available.

Non-Mcgill registrants, including visitors, trainees and students with no transcript, please complete and submit the Paying Participant Training Form

Cost (McGill): Free for McGill Community (students, staff and faculty). When registering using the on-line registration system you will be prompted to enter a FOAPAL - no FOAPAL is required therefore leave the field blank.

Content: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015) Training is a legal requirement for all personnel working with controlled products in Canada. WHMIS 2015 is intended to protect the health and safety of workers by promoting access to information on hazardous materials used in the workplace. Environmental Health & Safety's WHMIS 2015 core training introduces participants to the 4 key elements of WHMIS 2015: Classification, Training, Labeling and Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Certification: A WHMIS 2015 Core Training certificate is presented to participants who successfully complete the written exam. Certification is valid for a period of 3 years. If you have participated in a WHMIS 2015 Core Training session within the last 3 years, you are not required to attended again.

Duration: 120-minutes (excluding online examination time)
