Images of the Fon lab and Montreal

The Fon lab studies the mechanisms leading to neuronal degeneration in Parkinson's disease (PD).
Our focus is on understanding the cellular functions of the genes responsible for familial forms of PD and how the dysfunction of these genes leads to disease.

I have the good fortune of being able to work both as a clinician and a scientist. I am reminded on a daily basis of the affliction of patients with Parkinson's disease. In my lab, we are striving to find out how the disease develops on a cellular and molecular level

Investigating the complexity of MDV cargoes

Mitochondrial-derived vesicles (MDVs) are implicated in mitochondrial quality control, a mechanism likely involved in PD. The diversity and composition of MDVs are still to unravel. Our study aimed at identifying the cargo in brain MDVs.
