Career services are available for Education undergraduate students and students in M.A.T.L. programs to help provide individual career guidance and offer engaging events. Many events serve to foster leadership and networking by bringing students with industry professionals, and potential employers. Your career advisor can also give you practical insight into diverse worldwide job markets, enhanced skills development, and hiring trends. Students see Career Advisors for many reasons, including:

    The Education Career Advisor can give you feedback on your CV and cover letter in French or English. If you need any assistance in translating your C.V. or cover letter from English to French or vice versa, you can contact the following organization: YES Montreal (Note: A fee is required).

    The Education Career Advisor conducts workshops in various Education courses, as well as outside of class time. Each semester, our office offers a variety of workshops targeted specifically to Education students. Some topics include but are not limited to:

    Career Fairs & Events

    Education Career Fair

    The McGill Education Career Fair is a yearly event organized by the Education Undergraduate Student Society (EdUS), Education Career Services and the Career Planning Service (CaPS) of McGill University. Our objective is to provide a forum where both future teachers and employers can network and explore job opportunities in today’s education field. Each year, there are approximately 300 attendees; i.e. undergraduate and graduate education students as well as alumni.

    Kinesiology Career Exploration Day

    BSc Kin students have the opportunity to meet with top employers, professional associations, and graduate schools in the field of Kinesiology. Our objective is to provide a forum where you can network and explore job opportunities, as well as gain valuable insights that will help you to make important choices regarding your career!
    *The Kin Career Exploration Day takes place every second year

    QAIS Speed Interviewing and Networking Event

    This intimate and interactive networking event with the Quebec Association of Independent Schools (QAIS) will allow you to briefly interview with various school representatives, as well as mix and mingle throughout the evening.

    Journey's End - Journey's Start

    The Faculty of Education hosts an annual professional development capstone event for graduating Bachelor of Education students in the Winter term called Journey’s End, Journey’s Start. It is a full-day event featuring a collection of workshops, panels, and guest speakers.

    Law 21 and your Career

    Law 21 is a law that applies only within Quebec and entails the legalization of prohibiting religious symbols (for example, the kippah, turban, niqab, and hijab) within the public sector. Since some B.A. graduates may be interested in administrative or leadership professions within the public sector, it is our priority to inform students affected by Law 21 of careers that are possible to pursue.

    • Companies are not in the public sector, and therefore are not subject to following Law 21 in their hiring practices
