Academic Advising

Advising is offered in 15-minute virtual and in-person* appointments that may be booked up to seven calendar days in advance. Same-day appointments may be booked at the latest, two hours in advance. For instructions on booking your appointment, see Advising Hours (read me first) below. 

*Note that all summer advising appointments will be  via MS Teams.  If you need an in-person appointment, contact your Advisor one week in advance to request a time within the summer advising hours.

Department Course Permit Requests

To request a course permit, please submit the Permit Request Webform. Be advised, submission of this form does not guarantee a permit will be issued. We encourage you to make arrangements in an alternate course to ensure you are registered for a sufficient number of credits for the Fall semester, in the case that your request is denied. Note, priority is given to students in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education.

Form submission dates:

Fall 2023:

August 28 - September 11

Winter 2024:

December 18 - January 15

 

Academic Orientation Schedule

Orientation gives you the opportunity to meet your Student Advisor and your peers, ask questions about your program and gain knowledge about supports that are designed to help you succeed at McGill!

June Pre-registration: 

Pre-registration information presentations will be held on June 7 for Year 1 students and June 12 for Year 0 students. All students will receive an email on how to to register for the event.

If you were unable to attend your pre-registration event, select your admit year below to view the presentation slides (it is not recorded):

 Consider applying to the Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning (MATL) program.

The MATL is a professional program leading to Quebec teacher certification at the secondary level and a Master’s degree.
