Ways Forward, Listening Circle

Friday, March 16, 2018 18:00to21:00

Ways Forward, Listening Circle is dedicated to survivors of assault and harassment on university campuses. The Listening Circle will be facilitated by passionate professionals who have experience in holding the space safely and will nurture deep, honest, and active listening and sharing. This event is organized by Teesri Duniya Theatre in conjunction with IMPACTS: Collaborations to Address Sexual Violence on Campus, a McGill and SSHRC grant which examines rape culture on university campuses.

The following questions will be explored:

  • The company is committed to multi-ethnic casting and compelling stories. How do we communicate with each other?
  • How can you help someone who has a vastly different experience than you?
  • How do we share pain, and understand and forgive our multiplicitous selves?
  • How can art and creativity heal our trauma?

Teesri Duniya Theatre is dedicated to producing socially and politically relevant plays based on cultural experiences of communities living in Canada. Reflecting the multicultural-multiracial and aboriginal reality of Canada, their work aims to bring critical thinking on important issues, connect communities and generate an intercultural dialogue. They tell peoples’ stories that are aesthetically outstanding and socially engaging.

A crucial part of the company is community education. Teesri Duniya regularly works to organize lecture series, classroom-visits, community events with ethno-cultural organizations, book launches, and training classes for young artists. To date, Teesri has produced over 50 plays representing all communities living in Canada.
