All members of the McGill community enjoy a range of rights, as laid out in various policies and regulations, as well as in Quebec and Canadian law.  McGill community members also have certain responsibilities that ensure that the dignity and worth of all community members is respected, and that teaching, learning, and research at McGill continue to be of the highest quality. When students' behaviour may constitute a violation of McGill policies, a disciplinary procedures may be initiated. These procedures are depicted below and include an extensive series of checks, balances, and opportunities for appeal. These measures ensure due process and fair treatment to all parties involved.

McGill University is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous Peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. McGill honours, recognizes, and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which we are located.
