Mahmudul Hassan

Mr. Mahmudul Hassan is a Ph.D. student in the School of Social Work at McGill University. After completing BSS (Bachelor of Social Sciences) Honors and MSS (Master of Social Sciences) degree in Social Welfare from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Mr. Mahmud commenced his professional journey at the a2i Programme, Bangladesh in 2015. He has worked for the Prime Minister’s Office, Bangladesh, ICT Division, Bangladesh, and UNDP Bangladesh for designing, planning, and implementing different e-Governance initiatives to support the establishment of “Digital Bangladesh”.

In 2018, he received the Erasmus Mundus scholarship to pursue his European Master in Social Work with Families and Children under the coordination of the University of Stavanger, Norway. In this Erasmus Mundus program, Mr. Mahmud completed his 1st semester from the ISCTE-IUL, Portugal, 2nd semester from the University of Stavanger, Norway, 3rd semester from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and went back to the ISCTE-IUL, Portugal to write his master’s thesis in the final semester. His master’s thesis focused on the relationship between immigrant Bangladeshi parents and their young children in respect of their education and social life.

His research interests include Family and Child Welfare, Child and Family Health and Wellbeing, Intergenerational Relationship between Immigrant Parents and Children, and International Migration, Social Policy and Social Inclusion, innovation in public service delivery, etc.
