Damyan Edwards

Damyan EdwardsDamyan Edwards is a third-year Doctoral student in the School/Applied Child Psychology Program at McGill University. He is part of a multidisciplinary collaboration between education psychologists, neuroscientists, geneticists, and clinicians that evaluate neurological markers for traumatic brain injuries. He has published in the areas of neurotrauma and child abuse, with a focus on gaining insight into pathophysiological mechanisms. Damyan has also worked with diverse populations (e.g., indigenous, special needs), where he specialized in identifying students with intellectual disabilities, autism, learning disorders, and emotional/behavioral disorders. His doctoral dissertation will involve determining the bio-psycho-social link between childhood sexual abuse and mental health consequences. Ultimately, he hopes to practice as a licensed psychologist and open a multidisciplinary health clinic with the aims of improving children’s wellbeing.
