Dr. Neil Andersson, Co-Director of the McGill Institute of Human Development and Well-Being (IHDW), has co-authored "Youth Mental Health Should Be a Top Priority for Health Care in Canada" with The Canadian Journal of Psychiatry (Sage Publishers). The paper was published in Vol 63, Issue 4, pp. 216 - 222, of The Canadian Journal of Psychiatry, March, 2018, and can be accessed online.
Over the course of the Winter 2018 and Summer 2018 semesters the Education Collection, currently housed on the second floor the Humanties and Social Sciences Library, will be integrated into the main Humanities and Social Sciences Collection in the McLennan Library Building. This project will increase the visibility and browsability of the Education Collection and will create space for over 100 new study seats.

In an airy open area at the back of the first floor of the former library of the Faculty Education is a colourful space filled with art supplies and work tables. Along the wall there are bins and boxes of fabric, coloured pencils and paints, sketch pads, paper, and all manner of recycled objects, ready to be remade into anything the visitor desires. In partnership with the Hong Kong-based WYNG foundation, the Faculty of Education at McGill University and Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) recently participated in another successful Visiting Scholars Exchange Program. For the first part of the exchange, the Faculty of Education warmly welcomed Assistant Professor Dr. Kei Yan Poon, from the Department of Special Education and Counselling, and Associate Professor Dr. Ian Bun Chun Lam from the Department of Early Childhood Education.
The two heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in the Education Building will be replaced this summer. As a result of this renovation work, the Education Curriculum Resources Centre will temporarily close from Saturday, August 5 to Sunday, August 27. During this time, the collection will be unavailable. The last day to submit hold requests will be Wednesday, July 19.
It was a successful turn out for the McGill Faculty of Education’s first Distinguished Public Lecture and Professional Development Lecture Series made possible by a generous donation from the Hong Kong based WYNG Foundation. This event took place on May 13, 2017 at The First Commercial Building, in Hong Kong.
Classrooms that encourage competition between students may inadvertently be creating settings where bullying is more likely to take place. That’s one of the conclusions that can be drawn from work led by McGill University researchers Maria Di Stasio and Robert Savage, who recently published a paper on the subject in the Journal of Adolescence. But it’s only part of the story.
Café Collab is a collaborative partnership with the Participatory Cultures Laboratory, situated within the Institute for Human Development and Well-Being (IHDW) at McGill's Faculty of Education; and McGill's Social Equity and Diversity Education Office (SEDE).
