Comparing to a role model may help reduce burnout among teachers.
Jeffrey Derevensky, James McGill Professor and Chair with our Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, has composed a special article to the Montreal Gazette, published Jan. 29, 2018 and titled "Opinion: Gaming disorder should not be dismissed".

The ECP International Student Group at McGill is a student-led group that aims to foster and support a network of international graduate students in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at McGill University, through various social and academic activities and events. Students will be immersed in an inclusive environment where students will have opportunities to develop communication and leadership skills, and to share their passions and interests. Additionally, the group seeks to facilitate access to resources.

In partnership with the Hong Kong-based WYNG foundation, the Faculty of Education at McGill University and Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) recently participated in another successful Visiting Scholars Exchange Program. For the first part of the exchange, the Faculty of Education warmly welcomed Assistant Professor Dr. Kei Yan Poon, from the Department of Special Education and Counselling, and Associate Professor Dr. Ian Bun Chun Lam from the Department of Early Childhood Education.

Dr. Jeffrey Derevensky, Chair of the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology and Director of the International Centre for Youth Gambling and High-Risk Behaviors, was interviewed by Mutsumi Takahashi on CTV News on December 21, 2016. Dr. Derevensky discussed the dangers of youth gambling and the potential for escalating risk-taking among young people with addictive personalities.
