Mathieu Lapointe holds a master's degree (Université de Montréal) and a doctorate (York University) in history. Specialist in the history of Montreal, his doctoral thesis was titled Le Comité de moralité publique, l’enquête Caron et les campagnes de moralité publique à Montréal, 1940-1954. He is the author of th multi-award winning book Nettoyer Montréal : les campagnes de moralité publique, 1940-1954 (Québec, Septentrion, 2014), and co-author of Scandale! Le Montréal illicite, 1940-1960 (Montréal, Cardinal, 2016). He co-edited in 2016, with Pascal Brissette, the collective work Corruption. Montréal et ses démons (Montréal, Leméac, 2016).
