Join us for a workshop sharing strategies for translating your record of academic achievement into a new document – a resume - designed for non-academic job applications. Open to all: This session is designed for graduate students and postdocs, and open to undergraduates.

1. Learn about the differences between academic cv’s and non-academic industry resumes
2. Identify transferrable skills and learn how to articulate them as relevant experience in the context of a non-academic job application

Crash Course in Interviewing

Boost your confidence before your interview. We will share our best interview preparation tips and explore the similarities and differences between interviewing virtually and in person. The 30 minute session will be followed by a brief Q&A.

By attending this course, you will be able to:

1. Prepare prior to an interview and know what constitutes post interview etiquette
2. Develop strategies for communicating your skills and experiences in an interview
3. Identify resources for preparing and practicing, to help build your confidence 
    

Same Day Advising Appointment with a CaPS Career Advisor

Register for a same-day advising appointment to get a quick answer to a career-related question or have a speedy 1-on-1 review of your CV/CL by a CaPS Advisor. Students will join the Zoom call waiting room and be seen on a first-come-first-served basis. Make sure you have your documents ready to go!

• Same day sessions are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the morning and afternoon.
• Sessions last up to 15 minutes.
• There are a limited number of sessions available each day.

Note: No personal statements will be reviewed during same day advising. You must book a separate appointment for personal statements by emails careers.caps [at] mcgill.ca
