Hiring someone and not sure where to begin?
The information below applies only to hiring within the Biology Department. Other departments must follow their own internal procedures.
Most positions are unionized (AMUSE, AMURE, MUNACA, etc.), which means specific posting, compensation, and offer‑letter requirements must be followed. The admin office reviews each proposed job description to determine the correct job category. Once confirmed, the hiring process can take 3 weeks to 6 months, and immigration steps may extend the timeline.
All stages—from recruitment to onboarding—are now completed in Workday.
For a full list of McGill unions and their Collective Agreements, please visit the Human Resources website.
For graders and invigilators requests for your exams, please fill in this Request form.
You request will be reviewed by the admin office and we will get back to you within 2 business days. For questions please contact luisa.sabaz [at] mcgill.ca (subject: Grader%2FInvigilator%20request%20form%20question) (Luisa Sabaz).
