André Aisenstadt Student Research Fellow position - call for candidates

Following a generous gift from the Nussia & André Aisenstadt Foundation, the McGill Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism (CHRLP) is now opening this call for applications for a Nussia & André Aisenstadt Student Research Fellow. Applications must be received by 6 March 2009 at 5pm.

Three ICL students present at scholarly conference

Rose Grogan, Samatha Jones and Andrea Sanche, three LL.M. students of the Institute of Comparative Law, attended the "Global Generations Conference: Human Rights and Health Law at a Crossroad" conference at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law on February 13, 2009. Each student delivered a paper at the conference.

This weekend, the team of Andrew Carvajal and Alexandre Bien-Aimé took First Prize at the Quebec Round of the Sopinka competition, also known as the Guy-Guérin Cup.

Graduate Law students Jean-François Hébert and Robin F. Hansen win Marc Lalonde Prize

Two McGill Law graduate students have been awarded the first Marc Lalonde Prize for Excellence in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration. DCL student Jean-François Hébert and LLM student Robin F. Hansen were honoured at a ceremony held earlier this week at Ogilvy Renault in Montreal.

Equity Access submits a memorandum to the Commission des affaires sociales

As part of the ongoing consultation on homelessness in Quebec, the McGill student group Equity Access submitted a memorandum to the Commission on November 4, 2008. The memorandum focuses on the growing litigiousness surrounding the homeless people and contains 15 concrete recommendations. The memorandum can be consulted online.

Flora Lê won the opportunity to present a paper at the annual North American Consortium on Legal Education’s (NACLE) conference. Her work, “L’adaptation de l’industrie agricole nord-américaine aux changements climatiques : vers une nouvelle gouvernance”, was written under the direction of Professor Richard Janda.
