McGill wins the Yvon Blais cup at the Mignault Moot

Published: 9 February 2010

Law students Éric L'Italien, Yacine Hadjoudj, Geneviève Laurin and Olivier Archambault-Lafond (as seen in photo on left) defended McGill's colours with verve at the Pierre-Basile Mignault Moot last weekend. The contest was held in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

The Laurin / Archambault-Lafond tandem qualified for the finals, before Justice Marie Deschamps, of the Supreme Court, and Justices Jacques Chamberland and Jacques Dufresne of the Court of Appeal. They came in second and received the Yvon Blais Cup.

According to their coach, Professor Pierre-Gabriel Jobin, this year's problem was thorny and competition from other universities was very strong.

The McGill Mignault team was also generously coached by Jean-Philippe Dallaire, Mariana Ferraro, Geneviève Bertrand and Philippe Dufort-Langlois, from McCarthy Tétrault. The team also wishes to thank Professors Robert Godin and Robert Leckey, and Justice Daniel Payette, who participated in the practices.
