In the new year, all users of McGill's centrally supported web platforms, Web Management System (WMS) and Virtual Host (VHost) will be required to complete the Web publishers and developers agreement form on an annual basis.
This helps us keep permission settings current and ensures that the people responsible for website quality are taking the right steps to meet legal and compliance requirements.
Why is this change happening?
Constantly evolving best practices, legal obligations and user requirements are making it very important for us to:
- Confirm individuals with access are aware of their responsibilities and are actively engaged in maintaining site quality.
- Prevent unauthorized access.
- Encourage regular content reviews to address outdated or incorrect information.
- Help our Web Services team provide better, more targeted support.
