General Information

Montreal, Canada: one of the BEST Student Cities in the world!

McGill is located in the heart of Montreal, a young and vibrant city of 3.8 million residents. While most Montrealers are francophones, more than one million Montrealers have a first language other than French. It’s not uncommon to hear Montrealers using French and English interchangeably around the city, and one-third of the city speaks another first language, the most frequently heard being Arabic, Italian, Spanish, Creole languages, and Mandarin.  If you don't speak French, don’t worry—you’ll be able to get by in the city with ease!

As part of Summer Academy, you'll have the chance to explore Montreal's lively neighborhoods including our famed Old Port with its cobblestone streets, the Plateau with its amazing food, architecture and murals, the Quartier des spectacles - hub of Montreal's summer-long festival season, and so much more!

YOUR McGill Experience

Our Campuses:

McGill has two campuses, our Downtown Campus in the heart of Montreal, and the Macdonald Campus - our suburban campus -  located 30 minutes from downtown Montreal.

Summer Academy will take place on the Downtown Campus, but we'll make sure you have the chance to explore the Macdonald Campus during your stay.

Our Students:

The McGill student population is extremely diverse: of our almost 40,000 students, 27% are international representing 147 countries! Our Summer Academy Team leaders are chosen from this diverse group of students, and they'll be there to help you experience what it's really like to be a student at McGill.
