This message is sent on behalf of Angela Campbell, Interim Deputy Provost (Student Life and Learning).

Dear students,

Welcome to Winter 2026! I hope you are returning to campus refreshed, energized, and ready to begin a new term filled with learning, discovery, and connection. The start of term always brings a sense of possibility, and I am excited to share that sense of renewal with you.

As you settle into your courses and campus activities, I encourage you to take a few minutes to revisit the policies that help ensure a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for all. The Charter of Students’ Rights affirms the many rights you hold as McGill students, while the Code of Student Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures outlines the expectations that shape our shared community. The Policy on Harassment and Discrimination and Policy Against Sexual Violence further reinforce our collective responsibility to uphold dignity, equity, and safety. And, if you have not already done so, please be sure to complete the It Takes All of Us learning module on sexual violence.

These documents are here to support you and remind us that a positive learning environment depends on everyday actions that put dignity and care first.

This winter also marks an important moment of transition. I am pleased to be passing the torch of leadership in Student Life and Learning at McGill to Professor Tony Mittermaier who will serve as Interim Deputy Provost starting on February 1, 2026. He will continue as Dean of Students, and his deep commitment to supporting student wellbeing will be especially valuable in the months ahead.

I admire the incredible diligence and determination of McGill students. As this term begins to unfold, I encourage you to pace yourselves, care for your wellbeing, and look out for one another. Alongside your academic commitments, I hope you make time to engage in campus life, learn beyond the classroom, lab, and library, and find moments of joy, rest, and connection. Remember, the resources listed below are available to support you.

Wishing each of you a bright, engaging, and successful Winter 2026.

Sincerely,

Angela Campbell

Interim Deputy Provost (Student Life & Learning)
