Before classes begin, you'll have several opportunities to get the information and advice you need:
- Degree Orientation: Learn how your degree works, what to expect academically and how SOUSA can support you. You'll also hear from our panel of professors about their experiences and what learning is like in the Faculty.
- New Student Drop-in Degree Advising: Have questions about your schedule, advanced standing, transfer credits or other start of term advising matters? Stop by and speak one-on-one with a degree advisor. No appointment is needed.
- Program Orientation (i.e. Departmental Advising Sessions): Connect with program advisors in your department to learn more about your program, courses and academic requirements and opportunities.
We strongly encourage all newly admitted students to take part in these activities, even if you have already met with an advisor or feel that your course selection is complete.
Discover McGill
Faculty Orientation is part of McGill's larger "Discover McGill" program. You can now register online for all of the Discover McGill events. Registration includes our main degree events (See Table 1). For Drop-in Degree Advisng and In-Person departmental sessions (Table 2), there is no need to register. You can go to as many of the departmental sessions as you like.
