There are several existing opportunities designed to encourage, recognize and celebrate innovation and entrepreneurship. They stem from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), foundations and companies such as Quebecor. Check them out!
- NSERC Innovation Challenge Awards
The Innovation Challenge Awards honour graduate students in the natural sciences or engineering who have demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit by identifying ways in which their research thesis results can be developed into products and processes to benefit Canadians.
- NSERC Synergy Awards
The Synergy Awards for Innovation were launched in 1995 to recognize partnerships in research and development between universities and industry.
- Manning Awards
The Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation has been recognizing and encouraging innovation in Canada since 1982. By means of a nomination, Canadians who have demonstrated recent innovative talent in developing and successfully marketing a new concept, process or procedure may win one of four awards each year.
- Pierre Péladeau Bursaries
To help Québec university students start businesses, Quebecor Inc. awards three bursaries worth $50,000, $30,000 and $20,000 for the best projects each year.
